NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS C 2 CAMDEN PARK 4
Strikes from Rob Hershkorn, David Kanzen, Jake Saunders and Adam Paris helped Camden Park book their place in the next round with a 4-2 victory over second division Raiders C.
A heartfilled performance but a depleted Raiders couldn't get something from Camden Park. After holding out for all but 10 seconds of the first half, Camden were controversially awarded a penalty when what looked like a good tackle from Liam Stein was penalised.
Hershkorn coolly converted to continue his impressive goal scoring form this season. He dedicated his goal to his late grandpa, Eric Hershkorn, who sadly passed away last week.
Shortly after half-time, Kanzen expertly placed a left-foot shot, from outside the box, into the bottom right corner.
Five minutes later, Saunders sent a half-volley into the net after a neat one-two on the edge of the box with David Khalastchi, to make the score 3-0
NLR C then showed great grit and pulled one back through Dan Tan, but the game was put to bed when Guy Marks picked up the ball on the right wing, beat two men with a trademark run and played a through ball to Paris who slotted the ball past the Norstar keeper.
Tan scored again from the edge of the box to make it 4-2 with 10 minutes remaining but the Oranges couldn't fashion the chances to get something from the game.
Camden Park's Nick Kagan told JC Sport: "It wasn’t the best performance but we did enough for the win, which was never really in doubt.
"We will certainly have to step things up another gear or two, for the knockout rounds."
NLR boss Zack Gothelf told JC Sport: "With players playing out of position and without a recognised shot-stopper, it was always going to be tough for the Oranges but they showed good heart and know that they need two victories from the two remaining group games to progress to the next round."
