Tal Ben Haim admits he is eager to return to the Premier League.
Ben Haim has been a regular in the Charlton team in his first season back in England and he believes he still has the qualities to play in the top-flight.
"I’ve no doubt that I can still fit in to the Premier League,” he said. “I’m as good as many of the players there.”
Ben Haim, 32, first came to England in 2003. He enjoyed spells with Bolton, Chelsea, Manchester City, Sunderland, Portsmouth, West Ham and QPR, but he says he is enjoying a new lease of life under Bob Peeters in the Championship.
He said: “I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this and the manager has given me the chance, and the other players are very supportive."
The Israel captain also has high hopes for the national team for the year ahead.
"We have a lot of players doing well with their clubs and that spills over to the national team.
"There is a great spirit and atmosphere in the team and we are moving in the right direction.”
Meanwhile, Nick Blackman was Reading’s match-winner in the FA Cup third-round tie Huddersfield. They will travel to Championship rivals Cardiff City in round four.
South Africa captain Dean Furman helped Doncaster Rovers draw 1-1 with Bristol Rovers. The winners will entertain Everton or West Ham.
