Yossi Benayoun's agent has rubbished reports that the Israeli national captain will be sold by Liverpool who were reported to have received a £6 million offer from Manchester City.

Benayoun, 28, recently said he wants to stay at Anfield but it was believed that he could be offloaded as the Merseyside club attempt to raise funds to buy Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry.

Benayoun's agent Ronen Katzav said on Wednesday: "There has been no contact or talks with any club about Yossi. He has a contract with Liverpool. I don't believe they want to sell Yossi and, from our point of view, he is only thinking about life at Anfield."
