Oakwood 3 Brixton Old Boys A 2
Strikes from Dan Geey, Josh Rose and Dan Ash saw Oakwood move clear at the top of the table after coming from behind to beat promotion rivals Brixton A at Parmiters.
They did it the hard way, though, coming from two goals down after Rob Hershkorn and Ben Weinberg had put BOBs in the box seat early doors.
Hershkorn opened the scoring with a delightful free-kick before Weinberg double the lead with a superb lob.
The turning point of the match saw Oakwood awarded a penalty after BOBs defender Josh Franklin was adjudged to have committed a professional foul as the last defender. The resultant spot-kick was converted by Geey and the comeback was on 10 minutes into the second half.
This changed the game as Brixton fought tooth and nail and they spurned the chance to restore the two-goal advantage.
Oakwood were soon level and a loss of concentration in the Brixton defence allowed the home side to score their winner in the last minute.
Oakwood joint-manager Ric Blank told JC Sport: "It was a really tough game against a good Brixton side. We are delighted to come away with three points, especially as we were 2-0 down after 15 minutes.
"They scored two fantastic goals to really put us under pressure. We gradually got ourselves back into the game when we switched Kinny over to the right hand side to limit their attacking threat. They had been causing us real problems up to that point. Josh Rose scored a great goal and a few choice word at half time gave us the boost we needed to start the second half on top.
"Ashy went through on goal but was brought down in the box and Dan Geey slotted the penalty away. Brixton were down to 10 men as their full back was last man and we started to turn the screw.
"Brixton were always dangerous on the break and had a couple of chances, but we had several chances to score the winner before Dan Ash slotted the ball home from close range in the dying minutes.
"Injury time was excruciating but we made it through comfortably in the end. And now we can look forward to testing ourselves against a very good Leeds Maccabi side at Parmiters. Get the cameras down, it's going to be a great occasion."
Brixton boss John Nitka told JC Sport: "We competed very well and can still be there if we win our games in hand."
