An organisation has been set up with the aim of finding a new Jewish Formula One champion within the next five years.
The Jewish Racing Drivers Association (JRDA) was created by Chris Harfield, Joe Williams, Jonathan Lipton and Paul Burns, who share a mutual passion for motor racing.
Now they are looking to break down many of the barriers surrounding motor sport and will nurture young Jewish talent to the top of the racing ladder.
The group plans to achieve this by increasing the participation of the Jewish community within motor sport, both on and off the track.
A spokesman for the group said: "There are not many industry sectors or major sports without a leading Jewish figure, but motor racing finds itself in that position.
"The JRDA aims to fill this void and will provide an all encompassing service for motorsport enthusiasts."
The news is sure to please Alon Day, 19, the Formula Three driver from Ashdod.
The JRDA have set themselves a starting point of attracting 250 members before deciding the best plan of action.
"Our belief is that it would fill the Jewish community with pride to see an F1 race led by a Jewish driver with the Magen David emblazoned on the helmet and top Jewish businesses and brands featured all over the car as it crosses the line to the roar of the crowd. The JRDA can make this dream a reality."
