A no-nonsense Jewish grandmother has attracted fans on social media after dispensing a series of money-saving tips
September 29, 2023 14:52As the cost-of-living crisis continues to hit our wallets, finding ways to save money remains a top priority for many households.
Now a Jewish grandmother is delighting social media users after dispensing a series of money saving tips in inimitable fashion.
Known only as Dina, the American bubbe was interviewed by a presenter from Jewish financial advice show Kosher Money. The US-based online show helps Orthodox Jews and people across the world make "smart financial decisions and achieve their money goals".
Approached on the street and asked what her top money-savings tips would be, the grandmother, known only as Dina, said: “First of all, you should have a savings account no matter how little you have.”
In the video, posted on Instagram and captioned "Jewish Grandma Energy Level 100" Dina continues: “You should buy second-hand clothes. Women are spending too much on clothes.

“The designer thrift shops in Manhattan and all the expensive neighbourhoods have the most wonderful consignment clothes. Buy for your children and yourself and you’ll save a fortune of money. You’ll look lovely.”
She also highlighted to the importance of not wasting food: “You have to learn not to overbuy and not to waste food. Use your leftovers wisely and teach your children," she urges.
“You don’t give a two-year-old an apple. You cut it up because they will take three bites and throw out the rest," Dina adds.
The money-savvy grandma also addressed what to do with savings insisting: “Buy real estate. Real estate is the best investment.”
Dina also went on to explain her background, saying: “Growing up in my time, our parents had no money. We were lucky if we had a meal.
“We didn’t have a savings account when we were young, we didn’t know what that was.”
She concludes: “Oh, I could go on, you don’t want to hear it all.”
Dina's advice - and her delivery - earned the video hundreds likes.
One fan declared: "I love Dina! I feel confident she’s giving advice that my grandmother would have given me if she were still here."
A second added: "We need a weekly dose of Dina."
