They are the colours that make up the Israeli flag, so it’s a combination readers of the JC will be more than familiar with. And – judging by what we saw on the spring-summer runways for 2024 – blue and white are the two shades to be seen in over the coming months.
They are, of course, also the two colours of the Greek flag, but it is their association with uber-fashionable tourist magnets such as Santorini and Mykonos probably best explains their current dominance in the fashion world.
The good news is that this combination is a winner whatever the colour of your skin, or if you are blonde, a redhead or a brunette. It is not only gorgeous and elegant, but it makes us feel like summer.
The most obvious and easy way to wear the two colours is to dig out your favourite pair of jeans and pair them with a crisp white T-Shirt.
But I’d encourage our readers to be a bit more adventurous and turn the look upside down with white trousers à la Liz Hurley and a royal blue shirt for that classic sailor look.
Or cast your eyes over the ultra-elegant dresses on this page. They all look great paired with some stylish chunky sandals – and they’re so light you won’t wilt in the heat.
So if you’re not heading to Mykonos this summer – here at least is the perfect way to transport yourself there sartorially! And best of all, the blue and white combination needn’t break the bank as there are options galore at the cheaper end of the high street, while subliminally supporting the Jewish state at the same time.
