Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez wants Israel captain Yossi Benayoun to stay with the club for at least three more years.
Benayoun, 28, joined the Premier League joint-leaders last July on a four-year deal.
Benitez said: "We will be very pleased if he stays here until the end of his contract. We want Yossi here."
the Israeli midfielder spoke of his frustrations about having limited opportunities with Benitez using him predominantly as an impact player from the bench. Benitez said: "If you are asked whether you want to play more, then obviously you say yes. If you are asked if you are unhappy not playing, you say yes.
"But I have been speaking to Yossi and he is happy here. He is a player I like, he can change games. He scores goals and has a lot of assists. He is okay and ready to play."
