Republic turn up the heat

Republic of Mancunia boss Anthony Bloch believes his men are peaking at the perfect time as they strive to complete a historic treble.

Bloch's men sealed their place in the semi-finals of the Feldman Trophy following a hard-fought 2-0 win over Haroldeans in Liverpool.

Republic will face South Manchester 2nd in the last four of the competition on April 24, a game which comes hot on the heels of their Shonn Tropy semi-final against Sporting JLGB . The challenges are beginning to pile up for Republic, who still have four league games to play including a potential title shoot-out against Manchester Maccabi 3 on April 10.

But after seeing cousins Oli and Paul Basger fire his side past Haroldeans, Bloch is adamant they can maintain their stunning run of form until the very end of the season.

"We now have four MJSL League matches remaining and two semi-finals at the end of April and I think we are starting to peak," said Bloch. "Matches, cups and leagues are won by winners and that's what I have in my squad."

And Bloch is now determined to ensure his side walk out at Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park in what could be the final piece in the treble jigsaw

"The Feldman Cup was something we wanted to be a part of at the business end of the season and drawing Haroldeans away in the quarter-final wasn't a great start," he added.

"After winning here earlier in the season I knew what we had to do which was come prepared, determined and confident of victory and this we did.

"Looking at the overall performances it was one of our best of the season .

Oakhill Lions stunned league leaders Manchester Maccabi 3rd with a hard fought 3-2 win to set up a last four clash with Hyde Park Rovers.

The student side came through a gruelling encounter after extra-time with Harry Roache grabbing a dramatic late winner for Dan Berkley's men who pulled off the result of the weekend. The tie had looked set to go to penalties after Harry Myers and Dan Cohen had both traded goals.

Hyde Park moved to the top of the MJSL with a 9-0 win over Westdene 2nd. Dan Green scored a hat-trick, while David Cohen and Oli Grant grabbed two a piece with Dan Rose and Phillip Braham also on the scoresheet.
