CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND THREE
BRADY MACCABI A 0 OAKWOOD A 2

Ric Blank believes Oakwood A are starting to shake off the cobwebs and they look back to their best after they overcame Premier Division rivals Brady at Rowley Lane to seal their place in the last 16 of the Anekstein.

The in-form Anthony Kintish and Jonny Quinn did the damage as the Oaks landed Brady two body blows from which they were never to recover from.

"We were so much more like our old selves - we were solid all over the park and had the quality to win the game comfortably in the end," Blank told JC Sport.

"We had so many chances to put the game to bed in the second half - we really should have been more clinical."

Oakwood dominated the first half and deservedly went ahead when Kintish continued his good goal-scoring form. He gambled at the far post and slotted in cooly to put them in front.

The visitors pressed for a second and would have had it but for a fantastic save as Brady's young keeper saved brilliantly with his feet from Adam Levine's point blank header.

Quinn doubled the lead right on the stroke of half time with a typical poacher's finish after Josh Bentley acrobatically diverted the ball back into the box to put us in a great position.

Brady worked hard and never gave up in the second half, but rarely troubled Oren Hury in the Oakwood goal.

Levine and Jacobson were in tremendous form and but for a fantastic miss (Kintish) and another great save, Oakwood would have added to their lead.

Blank added: "I'm really pleased with our performance. We're coming together now. The challenge is to go on a meaningful run and see where it takes us.

"Brady are a good side and, as I said earlier in the season, have some excellent young players. I can see what Joel's doing there and if they stick together, continue improving they can be at the heart of that Brady side for a long time to come.

"We meet again in three weeks and we're already looking forward to it."
