Republic of Flixton continued their stunning start to the season by crushing Oakhill Lions in the opening round of the Harold Feldman Trophy.

The Manchester students had hoped to pull off a huge shock but were given short shrift as Republic cruised to a 7-2 victory.

Two penalties from Jonny Alexander, a brace from the prolific Rob Jacobs and further strikes from Andy Rosenberg and James Rosenberg secured victory.

David Seligman and Robert Selwyn were on target for Oakhill, who will now turn their attention to Sunday’s Peter Morrison Trophy clash against Manchester Maccabi 1st.

Haroldeans squeezed through to the next round following a nervy 2-1 victory over Broughton.

Josh Roberts and Mat Alis got the goals for the reigning league champions with Jake Rubins replying for Broughton.

South Manchester Sports 2nd crashed out following a surprise 3-1 home defeat by FC Cosmos.

A double strike from Andrew Shaffer and one from Simon Kaye booked Cosmos’ place in the next round with Josh Klepper’s striker a mere consolation.

In the Yorkshire derby, Leeds Maccabi 3rd cruised to a 6-1 win over Leeds Maccabi 2nd courtesy of a Yosse Saunders hat-trick.

Dov Gilbert, Charles Sadler and Aviv Levy also got in on the act with Joav Kestenbaum replying for the second team.

In the MJSL, Manchester Maccabi 2nd went goal crazy as they smashed 10 past Crumspall 2nd.

Yoses Brownson grabbed a hat-trick, while both Jake Kelly and Ben Gould scored two each.

Jake Berger, Harris Kersh and Marc Sheldon also hit the back of the net in the 10-0 drubbing.

Manchester Maccabi 3rd eased to a 4-2 win over Crumpsall 1st thanks to Marcus Buchanan’s double and efforts from Jack Myers and Moishe Hasid.

Moshe Klyne and Michael Gastwirth got the goals for Crumpsall 1st.

In the Sunday Alliance Challenge Cup, Leeds Maccabi 1st came from two goals down to defeat Republica International 3-2.

Goals from Charlie Myers, Dan Ross and a Dan Seligman strike earned Ian Selwyn’s side a dramatic victory.

Manchester Maccabi 1st were edged out by the odd goal in nine after going down 5-4 at home to Bulls Head Athletic in Division Two of the Tameside League.

Adam Stevens scored twice, while Ben Shalom and Michael Greene were also on target for Martin Simons' men.

South Manchester SC 1st eased to a 4-0 away win at Bowler.
