A fine performance from NJCL saw them beat Ladybridge CC by 47 runs in the latest Representative match.
NJCL won the toss and skipper Steve Glicher elected to bat on what turned out to be a very slow pitch.
Openers Black and Rabinovitz got off to a steady start putting on 54 for the first wicket before Rabinovitz was bowled by Wood for 37.
This brought Steven Allweis to the crease who continued his fine form scoring 31 before being adjudged LBW to Hancock to a ball that kept very low. Black soon followed having scored a patient 37 which left Shiers to accelerate the innings to enable NJCL to reach 159-5, with Shiers finishing on 29 not out.
Ladybridge were soon in trouble and found themselves at 9-3 with fine bowling from David Cohen and Dan Paul, and following such a poor start, continued to struggle with the bat.
David Glick took the wicket of Howsley and Charlie Mason chipped in by bowling Royal. With six wickets down, Ladybridge were effectively out of the game.
A stunning catch by Saunders saw off Wood for a duck which left David Cohen to wrap up the innings and ending with figures of 4-15 off his allotted seven overs.
This was a great opportunity for some of the younger players to show off their talents which they did to fine effect.
It’s back to cup action for the NJCL on Sunday with T20 finals day at Gatley. The semi finals will start at 11am with the final and 3/4 place playoff at 2.30pm. Only Bury miss out having lost in the quarters to Maccabi.
