NJCL rep team overpowers Lindow

articlemain

The Northern Jewish Cricket League's Rep side beat Lindow CC by seven wickets.

The NJCL made early inroads into the Lindow top order with David Glick taking two quick wickets. The in-form Avrom Topperman chipped in with two wickets of his own. Resistance came from Chris Smith who scored 28 out of a score of 37. Akiva Lieberman ripped out the middle order with three quick wickets to leave the NJCL chasing just 38.

The NJCL's reply got off to a bad start as they lost two early wickets but an assured knock of 18 from Simon Jefferies, which included a six and a four in consecutive balls, helped steady the ship and eased the NJCL home with 32 overs to spare.

NJCL secretary Zevi Saunders said: "This was the second massive victory for NJCL who look to have formed good team spirit and winning mentality."

The players make a return to league action on Sunday with Bury & Whitefield taking on Manchester at St. Paul's.
