NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS C vs L’EQUIPE
Raiders C will be looking to open their BGT account on Sunday when they take on in-form L’Equipe.

Oli Nathan was their star man as they ended FC Team C’s title hopes with a sensational late comeback. Will Ufland moved on to seven goals for the season, with Alex Goodman chipping in with the other.

L’Orange fans were also delighted by the performances of Alex Sherr, who has turned into Mr Consistent this season, and keeper Marc Woolfe.

L’Equipe recorded a crucial league victory over Jewdinese last week and they will fancy their chances of beating Raiders on grass.

They are a different team with the Smith brothers up top and they will fancy themselves if it turns into a war of attrition.

Joint-manager Josh Lewis told JC Sport: “We’re on a good run of form at the moment and I feel that my team are well prepared and confident going into our second BGT game.

“Norstar are also in good form after beaten FC Team C last week and having played them three times already this season we know what to expect.

“Jon Kay will be facing his old team and our defensive duo of David Prager and Ian Baron are keen to build on last week’s clean sheet.

“It’s usually a close against Norstar and I’m expecting a tough game, but if we can get the three points I’m confident we’ll progress to the quarters.

JC team news: Dan Cordell and Josh Lewis are both away on Scott Bennett’s stag this weekend and L’Equipe also missing Jeremy Newton and Adam Wilson. James Bell will return outfield following his return from injury and heroics in goal last weekend against Jewdinese.

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS B vs BOCA JEWNIORS
The Boca boys are riding the crest of the wave after scooping several awards on Matchday 25.

Gabriel John, Jamie Weinrich and Josh Marlow were key figures in the excellent win over Faithfold B, but I have a feeling things will get much tougher on Sunday.

Boca gave their fans the kind of performance they had been dreaming about for several months. John was confident they could deliver, but a backs-to-the-wall job will be need for the hardest game in the club’s history, against a team who experienced joy at Wingate & Finchley last year.

Raiders go into the game on the back of a 3-2 defeat against Blizzard Storm, a result which ended their Division One title hopes. But with promotion in the bag, Jonathan Adelman’s men are ready to go again.

With the likes of Jake Gilbert, Nicky Woolf, Jacob Gold and Mike Hershman ready to be unleashed, it could be a long 90 minutes for the visitors, with an emphatic scoreline at the whistle.

AC MILL HILL vs LOS BLANCOS
Blancos are in good shape for their second game in the BGT against second division Mill Hill.

Last week’s point against SPEC FC was hard-earned in a low key after, low on quality.

Returning Blancos boss Jonathan Ison told me this week his troops are raring to go as they look to register their first win.

Ison told JC Sport: “It's all still in our hands in the BGT and we are confident of doing well in the competition.

“Last week’s draw was a fair result, but this week we need to push on and get the three points.

“We have a very strong squad available, with a couple unavailable. Tim Heynes has put in some great performances over the last month. He certainly is one to watch this week.

“This game won’t be easy against a decent opposition, but as we showed when we beat Redbridge two weeks ago, on our day, we are a top team and can beat anyone.”

Mill Hill go into the game buoyed by the fact they remain firmly in the Division Two promotion mix following FC Team C’s defeat last week.

But they must go into Sunday’s meeting full focused, ready to execute their game-plan against a Blancos team packed with goal-scoring threats.

This game has goals written all over it, assuming it beats the weather, and I can see the Blancos boys winning a thriller.

RESULTS & FIXTURES

FAITHFOLD A vs NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A
The next few weeks are absolutely massive for Raiders and the meeting with Faithfold comes at a good time, I believe.

L’Orange have accumulated five points more than the Superhoops, having played five games less, and they will be looking to reopen the wounds of Faithfold’s 6-1 mauling at the hands of Harmen last Sunday.

It finished 7-0 to NLR when the teams met in December, with top-scorer Matt Stock and Liron Mannie firing hat-tricks and I can see them going for goals once again.

NLR boss Rob Richman told JC Sport; “We have had some time to take stock after the last-minute winner over Oakwood that put us into the Anekstein final.

“We have been saying for a while that each game gets more and more important and that view will ring true every week for the next few months.

“Faithfold have found some form the last few months and despite their result last time out, we know they will pose a threat to us and definitely cannot be taken lightly.

“The games will come thick and fast from now on in so it is important we get into our rhythm quickly and that begins with this crucial fixture against Faithfold this Sunday.”

Bouncebackability is the name of the game for Faithfold. With a mid-table finish guaranteed, they will be looking to get the Harmen defeat out of their system. But I think they will find things tough against a team packed with pace and good attacking options.

Faithfold boss Zuriel Solomon told JC Sport: “We go into the game on the back of a bad result and play Raiders who are riding high so definitely go into the game with nothing to lose.

“We were beaten badly by Raiders last time out, but it was another week where we struggled to even get a team out which has been the case all season.

“We are missing a few for this weekend, but we will work hard and see where it gets us.”

Given what’s at stake, I don’t expect Raiders to encounter too many problems on Sunday. With Ben Joseph in top form, NLR fans will be looking for a big performance from David Dinkin before next week’s Morrison meeting with Hendon.

JC team news: With no game last week, NLR used the opportunity to get Elliot Espinoza and Adam Joselyn some game time for the B and C teams respectively, as they return from long injury lay-offs. They should both be fit for Sunday’s game. Jordan Marks misses out but Matt Stock and Liron Mannie should be fit. David Rhodes faces one more week out with a recurrence of a groin strain picked up early during the Oakwood game.

FC TEAM A vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A
Redbridge’s title aspirations could be put to bed once and for all against an FC Team side firing on all cylinders.

The fact the east Londoners have claimed seven wins from 14 games tells you they are not quite ready to challenge the likes of Hendon and Raiders in the consistency stakes, but they can beat any of their rivals on any given day.

Team have picked up important victories in their last two outings, with Eitan Ben-Zion producing some outstanding displays.

The first meeting between the teams promises to be an exciting one, with the clash between Ed Weisz and Steve Summers key.

Team head coach Ben Gilbey described last week’s win over Oakwood as a “real battle”. I can see this being a case of more of the same, with a similar outcome.

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A vs MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE
There’ll be a new man in the dugout for Hendon on Sunday when they take on Lions Blue.

With boss David Garbacz on a scouting mission in India, he’s passed over the reins to Greg Corin as the Reds look to maintain their lead at the summit.

With four games remaining, Hendon will be looking to crank up the heat on Raiders, ahead of next week’s crunch clash in the Peter Morrison Trophy.

Garbacz told JC Sport: “Each league game assumes huge importance - we need to keep the pressure on Raiders and nothing will give in our quest to gain as many points as possible.

“Lions are always a dangerous proposition as you never know which team will turn up, but we should be confident of beating them and there will be no excuses.

“Our squad is slowly coming back to full fitness, as tends to be the case with big games on the horizon, so there will be some selection issues for my stand-in manager Greg Corin, but I'm sure he's up to the job - he knows he'll never hear the end of it if we don't win!”

Although the Lions lie seven points clear of the relegation zone, manager Jamie Kyte isn’t resting on his laurels and I can’t see them going through the paces on Sunday.

Hendon put four past Lions on the opening weekend of the season, with Dovi Fehler (2), Ari Last and
Greg Corin finding the net. But I have a feeling things will be closer second time around.

With the race for the coveted Hendon golden boot hotting up, don’t be surprised if Avidan Last and Dovi Fehler feature on the scoresheet in a narrow Hendon win.

JC team news: Hendon have doubts over Avidan Last, Rafi Kon and Alex Rosenthal. Yoav Kestenbaum may be available.

WOODFORD WANDERERS vs HARMEN
Two of Jewish football’s top marksmen go head-to-head in a battle that will be worth the admission fee alone as high-flying Harmen visit struggling Woodford.

James Gershfield helped himself to a hat-trick in last week’s 6-1 demolition of Faithfold, and the Team Maccabi GB predator will be on the goal trail again as Harmen go in search of their seventh league win.

One of the major differences between Harmen and Woodford this season is the service they can offer their strikers. Gershfield has smashed 23 goals and had several assists, with his all-round game bringing out the best in his teammates.

And with positive news coming from the Harmen treatment table, joint-manager Joel Alterman is confident of coming away from east London with maximum points.

He told JC Sport: “With half our squad missing for last week’s convincing victory over Faithfold, we will be looking to bring back a large majority of these to make the trip to Essex before they head off to Wembley.

“In the home game earlier this season, we looked comfortable against last year’s Division One champions, but we know the threat that they pose.

“We will need to turn up fully focused to come away with the three points, but I have full faith in our players to do just that.

“The other three sides at the top of the table all face tricky fixtures so this week gives us a chance to pull ourselves one step closer to them.”

Every game is like a cup final for Woodford from here on in. But the fixture list has been unkind to Mitch Hahn and co, with a big derby against Redbridge and a meeting with Raiders on the horizon. So Sunday is really a must win.

Goals is the key area Woodford have struggled in this season – they have failed to score in six league games this season - and it wouldn’t surprise me if Harmen won by at least a couple of goals.

JC team news: Harmen joint-player-manager Joel Alterman will be missing, but it gives a chance for Bradley Sharp, missing last week due to illness, to come back and reclaim his place in the side.

BRADY MACCABI vs CAMDEN PARK
There’s a little chance this game will have an end-of-season feel about it, with Camden looking to cement third spot against a Brady side who have not yet given up on fourth spot.

Truth be told, both teams are disappointed with how the season has gone. The qualities of Camden and Brady are undoubted, but RJC and NLR have set the bar sky high this season. In the end, they just couldn’t deliver.

Camden are now setting their sights on a trip to Wingate after registering their first win in the BGT. They stormed out of the blocks against London Rovers last week, with Mike Khalastchi, David Khalastchi and Max Saunders registering in a quality first-half display. Boss Nick Kagan was mildly concerned that they allowed their Division Three opponents back into the game, until Rob Hershkorn popped up to calm their nerves.

I’m at a loss to explain what has gone wrong at Brady this season. At times, they have been busier on Twitter than on the pitch, but they will be looking to address this against a Camden team who beat them 4-2 in October.

Man for man there won’t be much between the teams and it will all boil down to who wins the individual and collectives battles.

JC team news: Brady have been boosted by the news that Oliver Kay will make his long-awaited return, having been given the all-clear by his physio.

BRIXTON OLD BOYS vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B
I hope Brixton perform the guard of honour when newly-crowned champions Redbridge set foot on what is expected to be a sticky surface at Clowes.

But once that first whistle blows, there will be no time for sentiment as Alan Aaronson’s troops go in search of a result that he hopes will keep their season alive.

It’s clear Brixton must leave nothing on the pitch and play with no fear. The bottom line is they are up against the best team in the division, but it’s important they don’t have an inferiority complex, or else they will get punished.

But the bad news is that Redbridge will be looking to finish the season in style. No doubt, they would’ve partied hard last weekend, and rightly so, but it’s back to business on Sunday, as far as boss Jon Jacobs is concerned.

Ahead of the game, he told JC Sport; “We want to set the seal on the title win with two more wins, starting with this Sunday, weather permitting.

“I would also like to see Daniel Garfinkle cement his place at the top of the scoring charts - he has had a fantastic first season with us and remarkably, can only improve.”

With key players back for RJC, I can only see one winner.

JC team news: RJC welcome back Nathan Sollosi following his suspension and have Matt Kemp back from University in goal to replace the holidaying Brad Grant. They also welcome back ‘Captain fantastic’ Darren Brown from domestic duties. The Chernoff brothers and Scott Oldstein are unavailable.

FC TEAM C vs JEWDINESE
Time is running out for Jewdinese in their battle against the drop. Anything less than a point on Sunday and their fate will be sealed. Simple as that.

They huffed and puffed against L’Equipe last week, but were kept at arms-length by experienced opposition. That was only the third time ‘Nese have failed to score in the league this season and I can see boss Darren Lawrence throwing caution to the wind against an FC Team side who score for fun.

Team saw defeat snatched from the jaws of victory against Raiders last week. Adam Stolerman put them in pole position, but three goals in the last five minutes saw their title dreams go up in smoke. Now automatic promotion looks uncertain, although I think they will still squeeze home.

Stolerman didn’t deserve to be on the losing side last week, but a lack of concentration and focus, thinking the game was one, proved costly.

Matt Davis was Team’s saviour in the first meeting between the sides this season, when ‘Nese led 2-0. Given that Team are packed with players who have been there, seen it and done it in Jewish football, I’m backing them to come through on Sunday.

TEMPLE FORTUNE vs LONDON ROVERS
Bring on the champions. That what visiting fans will be chanting as newly-crowned London Rovers look to end an outstanding league campaign in style.

Over the course of 90 minutes, Rovers certainly didn’t look out of place in the company of first division Camden Park in the BGT last week. The first 45 aside, Jeremy Brown’s boys stepped up a level, with Josh Bharier and Dovi Vogel maintaining their excellent goal-scoring form.

Having hit Fortune for six during Chanukah, the bookies fancy Rovers to get back on the winning trail, and Brown will be calling for level heads as they look to return to winning ways.

“Last week was a little disappointing,” Brown told JC Sport. “I felt we could have got more from the game had our first half performance been better, although we were really stretched for numbers but we still had a lot of quality on the pitch.

“I told the squad that our season is not over by a long way and although we are confirmed champions, we still have lots to improve on so that we go into next season in the best possible shape.

“We also want to finish the season with the best possible record. I know it’s hard for the players to find that same urgency and drive as they have put in so much hard work, but we need to maintain the same high level of performance every week regardless of what the games mean.

“Temple Fortune are still fighting to stay away from the bottom of the table so if we're not careful and turn up without any purpose, they can cause us some problems.

“We have more or less a full squad this week so I expect the boys to go out on Sunday and put on a really good show and start thinking about taking it up a level so that we can be more of a match for the teams in higher divisions."

Fortune boss Jonathan Cohen has not given up hope of avoiding the wooden spoon. Boca’s shock win over Faithfold didn’t help them, but he wants them to compete against the team that has set the standard in Division Three this season.

Ahead of kick-off, Cohen told JC Sport; “We want to put in a better display against the champions this time around and will fight for 90 minutes.

“I’m sure they will not be any mood to take their foot off the gas.”

With several key players returning, Rovers will want to get a good performance under their belts ahead of their forthcoming BGT matches. Three points is the goal and I think they will get them.

KING CROWN vs SHACHARIT DONETSK
By hook or by crook, King Crown remain on course for the runners-up spot. It looked as though Faithfold B would be the biggest threat to their promotion hopes, but now Real Sosobad are the only team who can deny them.

Jacob Kadoch’s boys will be on their guard as Shacharit beat them 3-2 earlier in the year. Some of their players hadn’t even heard of Adam Ellis before the game, but they certainly knew who he was at full-time, with the Donetsk boys finishing strongly to take the points in a thriller.

Two more wins would probably be enough to earn Crown automatic promotion, but they can take nothing for granted against talented opposition, who can still finish third.

KS REUNITED vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB B
Hendon’s first trip to Essex ended in defeat, but the Reds have made big strides since then and manager Adam Glekin is confident they can do the business second time around.

They failed to score against Real Sosobad in September – one of only three games this has happened in – but they’ve also hit six twice in a game, and I’m sure Benni Sluckis will be relishing the opportunity of trying to destroy the KS defence.

KS have struggled against teams at the top in recent weeks, and although one or two have already started thinking about next season, it’s important they send out a message to their fans, and manager James Lewis, that they won’t just be going through the motions.

"We are looking forward to finally getting back in front of our home fans, and will be looking to avenge our defeat to Hendon in the cup," boss James Lewis told JC Sport.

"We have a full squad to choose from and let's hope KS can double up with Spurs to give me a dream Sunday!"

The KS boys still have time to turn things round and claim a mid-table finish, but the momentum is with Hendon and I don’t see them slipping up this time.

REAL SOSOBAD vs FAITHFOLD B
Sosobad have responded superbly since the shock defeat against Temple Fortune. Back-to-backs win over Lions and Boca have put them back in promotion contention, but they still have lots to do.

Boss Dan Shafron knows they can ill-afford any slip-ups during their run-in, although they look in for a tough test against fellow high-flyers Faithfold B on Sunday.

The first meeting finished in a stalemate in October and I can see things being just as tight second time around.

Automatic promotion is no longer possible for Faithfold following defeats against champions London Rovers and Boca Jewniors. Last week’s defeat against the basement battlers came as a real body blow and boss Rob Shooman is determined to finish the season on a high, especially with several players hoping for new contracts over the summer.

He told JC Sport: “After last week’s truly awful performance, we will be out to put things right.

We have one or two guys coming back this week, which will surely strengthen the team, and I know the guys will be itching to put in a strong performance.

“Real are a very good side and like us - they look to keep the ball down and play football. We are looking forward to the game.”

Sosobad are playing a more expansive game these days. They don’t need to adopt a gung-ho or win-at-all-costs approach and if they defend properly, I can see them just edging it.
