SOUTH MANCHESTER SPORTS CLUB 1st 10 IRAQ FC 0
A fabulous hat-trick from Marc Yaffe helped South Manchester register a perfect 10 against Iraq FC.
Jody Marks’ troops were on their guard after Iraq had upset table-toppers MiamMiam last week and he knew it was important for South to continue their good form as they approach a difficult run of games.
South started very brightly, playing a high tempo game, and they were causing the Iraq defenders all sorts of problems.
Within 20 minutes, South could and probably should have been four goals up, but the breakthrough eventually came from a well-worked set piece converted by Adam Jackson.
Adam Lavin then scored with two trademark finishes and South went into the break with a 3-0 advantage.
Determined to send out a message to their league rivals, South continued where they left off and scored seven second half goals in the second half, including three from the clinical Yaffe.
South boss Jody Marks said: "We came into this game off the back of a solid display and were determined to push on with a good performance.
"Scoring 10 is always fantastic and I am delighted for Yafs with his hat-trick and hard work over the last few months is paying off as he looks 21 again down the wing.
"Special mention has to go to our defensive unit who kept their fourth clean sheet in five games and have allowed us to play a new style of attractive, attacking football this season.
"We now have three tough league games before we embark on a new Morrison challenge, but I feel the boys have only just started."
