Maccabi GB have appointed Marc Diner and Craig Harris to take charge of developing basketball at next year’s European Maccabi Games in Vienna and looking further forwards, the Maccabiah Games in 2013.

Diner and Harris have both competed at numerous Maccabiot including last year’s Games where Marc was Chair of basketball and Craig managed the boys’ basketball squad. Craig has also led teams to the JCC Maccabi Games in North America.

Maccabi GB are looking to recruit youngsters aged 11 and over to learn and play basketball with the objective of representing Team GB at the EMG and the 2013 Maccabiah Games.

The trials, taking place on July 11, will be open to all those who are interested, have a desire to learn and would like to be part of a positive team environment.

Diner said: “Representing Maccabi GB at either the European or Maccabiah Games is an honour and a great experience for the young people who attend these international events. Whilst the competition is tough, the atmosphere is electric and being part of a large delegation makes all the hard work worthwhile.

"Participating in international competitions allows young people to grow as individuals, learn from others and understand what it takes to succeed.

"I have some great memories from five different Maccabiot which bring back a lot of pleasure - the friends you make, the places you see and the enjoyment of winning is why we do this."
