HERTS SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
BUNTINGFORD TOWN 1 LONDON LIONS 7
With Harry Hatchwell and Jake Furman dominant in midfield throughout, it was one-way traffic as Lions notched up an impressive score at The Bury.
It took almost 30 minutes to break the deadlock, but it was worth the wait as skipper Josh Kennet scored with a super strike.
The lead was doubled five minutes later when Adam Burchell and Nick Landesberg combining to set up Gershfield, who gratefully added to his impressive tally for the season with a tap-in.
Lions made it 3-0 just before the interval when a Kennet corner was diverted in by a Buntingford defender.
The visitors didn’t let up against a team who had been on a good run of form, and really continue to stamp their class on this league by rattling in a further four goals after the interval.
Gershfield added his second before Buntingford scored what proved no more than a consolation past Jake Lewis to ruin the Blues’ clean sheet for the day. But this was a brief reprieve for the hosts.
With manager Andy Landesberg introducing quality from the bench, two of those players combined for Lions fifth when Adam Arnold set up returning striker Kyte.
Austin Lipman added a sixth for his 21st of the season, before Kyte, who recently returned from a loan spell at Wingate & Finchley, added another as he continued to make up for lost time and add to Lions firepower for the title run-in.
With nearest rivals Belstone and Bushey also dropping points, wins at home to Sandridge on Wednesday followed by Bovingdon on Saturday would move Lions two major steps closer to the title they surely now have in their sights.
