Lions keep title hopes alive

articlemain

London Maccabi Lions A overcame Faithfold by the odd goal in seven in Division One, with Immanuel Ezekiel (2), Adam Brand and Adam Lee giving them a 4-3 win. Adam Barton (2) and Jason Rich replied for Faithfold.

Glenthorne A saw off EDRS Stonegrove with Jason Levy, Adam Lennard and Sid Shaw contributing to a 3-1 win, and an own goal providing the solitary consolation for EDRS.

The Division 2 title race is hotting up, with Lions B making it clear that they are not yet out of the running, recording a 5-2 victory over Temple Fortune B, thanks to goals from Paul Wise (2), Laurence Finger, Malcolm Newman and Arthur Duke. Jeremy Fess and Steve Feiger provided the goals for Fortune.

Feiger commented: "The spirit today was fantastic and the effort from everyone was great but our defending wasn't as good. We matched them for an hour but fell away which was disappointing."

Norstar extended their lead at the top to three points after coming out 4-2 winners in a tough encounter with Brady B. Despite being given an early lead by Lee Cohen, Norstar fell behind to Gary Field’s double strike either side of the interval, the first a swerving 30-yard shot, the second a penalty. But Norstar hit back with goals from Greg Bradman (2) and Henry Charles to secure the points.
