Injury woe for Hemed

articlemain

Tomer Hemed’s hopes of a lucrative move to the Premier League are on hold after he suffered a serious injury in Real Mallorca’s goalless draw against Valencia.

Several clubs had sent scouts to watch the Israel striker during the season, but he faces six months out after tearing his Achilles tendon.

Hemed has scored 11 goals in La Liga this season for a Mallorca team that is battling to avoid relegation and he will miss Israel’s vital World Cup qualifiers against Russia and Portugal.

Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv technical director Jordy Cruyff is reported to be lining up an offer for Brighton boss Gus Poyet. Cryuff says he is determined to bring in a top European manager to replace Oscar Garcia who resigned last week.
