FA VASE 2ND QUALIFYING ROUND

LONDON LIONS A MALMESBURY VICTORIA A (Match abandoned after 60 minutes due to player injury, with Lions 1-0)

Lions were leading 1-0 at the time, but after waiting an hour for an ambulance, the referee called time.

Typically the ambulance duly arrived less than a minute later, but there was to be no further play and despite Adam Burchell’s goal on 46 minutes, the match will be replayed.

Prior to that Lions had looked the livelier team and had been denied late in the first half by a superb penalty save from Charlie Rubin’s spot-kick. At the other end Dan Lipman also made a great stop in the first half.

More than 125 people were in the stands and the travelling army from Malmesbury, Wiltshire will need to make the 228-mile return journey back to Arkley.

The rescheduled match takes place on Sunday, October 1st at 4.30pm. The winners will be at home to Clapton.
