Russell Goldstein is relishing representing England at the Four Nations tournament in Cardiff, which gets under way today.
Goldstein, 22, is part of a 20-man squad competing in the inaugural competition, alongside Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales at the House of Sport venue.
England kick-off against Scotland before facing Northern Ireland and Wales in the three-day tournament.
Goldstein, who plays for Helvécia in the FA National Superleague, is one the few futsal players in the country to get paid.
He said: “The boys are feeling confident ahead of the Scotland game. We’re favourites to win the event and our recent victory over Wales in the World Cup qualifiers in Israel should stand us in good stead.”
England completed their preparations with a double-header against Germany in Hamburg. They lost the opener 5-3 which was followed by a goal-less draw.
Goldstein said: “It was an incredible experience playing in front of such a big and hostile crowd, which included some ultras. The atmosphere was electric.”
The futsal winger also plays for Redbridge Jewish Care in the MGBSFL.
