Yuri Foreman's hopes of becoming a world champion again are in tatters after he suffered a shattering defeat in his comeback fight against Pawel Wolak at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Foreman, having his first fight since undergoing knee ligament surgery after losing his WBA world light-middleweight title to Miguel Cotto on a ninth-round stoppage last June, was taking such a beating that his corner refused to let him come out for the seventh round.

It was Foreman's second defeat in a 30-fight career while Polish-born Wolak, who carried too much punching power for the 30-year-old Belarus-born trainee rabbi, recorded his 29th win from 30 fights.

Wolak stalked New York-based Foreman from the opening bell, subjecting him to a series of combinations and clubbing right-hand punches.
