Five-star Polden was a real handful, says Rabinowitz

Matt Polden put on a five-star show as an emergency forward for Oakhill Lions.

Polden, who has spent the season keeping them out in defence, was utilised at the other end of the pitch as a striker against South Manchester Sports 3rd.

He responded to the call by scoring five goals in Oakhill’s blitz.

And player boss Daniel Rabinowitz revealed he has no plans to switch Polden ahead of Sunday’s clash with Leeds Maccabi.

He said: “Matt was moved up front and it proved a shrewd move. He was a real handful throughout and got his goals he deserved.

"He will be remaining in attack in what is a big game against Leeds. We would be foolish to move him."

Oakhill boast a 100 per cent record and that never looked like ending thanks to Polden. He outgunned Lawrence Rosenberg, who grabbed a hat-trick, and a double from Osher Landes.
Moses Seitler and Ben Mandell also weighed in.

A win over favourites and defending champions Leeds will confirm Rabinowitz’s men are firm contenders for the MJSL crown.

Rabinowitz said: “We are using the Leeds game as a benchmark. That’s when we will discover if we are genuine candidates or not. With the way we have been playing, we have nothing to fear."
