Manchester Maccabi 2nds got back to winning ways in league with a convincing 5-2 win over Nexus.

Having drawn their first three games of the new year, the 2nds were looking for a positive start and they looked sharp from outset. Ten minutes in and a goal kick from goalkeeper Harris Kersh found it way right down the throat of the Nexus defence and into the path of striker Ben Gould who finished with aplomb.

The lead was doubled soonafter when right-back Dani Dennison carved out space on the right wing and put in a pinpoint cross to find the ahead of Adam Herman who calmly headed home.

Maccabi seemed to lose some of their concentration after the second goal and allowed Nexus back into the game. A throw in down the Nexus right caused Maccabi all sort of problems. The ball eventually fell to Nexus striker who poked the ball home, with their first attempt on goal.

The second half started with both teams going close. First, Maccabi hit the bar from and corner and then Nexus had a certain goal cleared off the line by captain Nick Yardley.

Maccabi though took their next opportunity and regained a two-goal cushion. Simon Lester with a brilliant first touch set him self up to fire the ball into the net.

Nexus were quick to reply though and were awarded a penalty. A weakly-struck spot-kick found the net off the gloves of Kersh.

Maccabi finally settled the game when Jordan Kaye lifted the ball over the approaching Nexus goalkeeper from 20 yards.

Ben Gould completed the scoring when he capitalised on a mistake to see Maccabi's first win of 2015.

Goals: Gould(2), A.Herman, Lester, J.Kaye
