Five-star England close in on the double

articlemain

A hat-trick from Adam Jaffe inspired England to an impressive 5-0 success over arch rivals Jerusalem.

What was drawn as the title decider for both teams on Saturday night as last year's champions came to Tel Aviv to play last years runners-up.

Both teams knew that a win would put them in pole position for the title with only one more game remaining.

England FC dominated from the off, passing the ball around nicely from back to front and making a depleted Jerusalem team chase a lot.

England were after early goals and they got them from Adam Jaffe after 15 minutes and Chad Waldman with a great 25-yard left-footed strike into the corner.

Jerusalem are the league's top-scorers so two goals was never going to be enough and England pushed for more and before the break, Jaffe finished off a great move to give England a 3-0 lead at half time.

The champions came out the block all guns blazing in the second half, but left themselves vulnerable to the counter, and with keeper Ariel Soloman looking solid and the league's meanest defence looking comfortable restricting the Jerusalem forward to long shots the fourth and fifth came with Jaffe completing his hat-trick and Dan Kosky scoring an own goal.

The result means that England now need to beat Modiin away to reclaim their league title and are still on course for the double after beating FC Anglia this week in the cup.
