MGBSFL DIVISION THREE
BOCA JEWNIORS 2 FAITHFOLD B 1
Jamie Weinrich's stunning strike saw Boca Jewniors boost their hopes of avoiding the wooden spoon with a sensational victory over high-flying Faithfold B.
It was a tale of the golden oldie show at the Hive as strikes from player-manager Gabriel John and a fantastic volleyed winner from 22.35678 yards out by Weinrich, Boca took all three points at The Hive.
Rob Schuman and David Garson always put out a well-drilled and competitive Faithfold side and this was no different.
But it was Boca who took the lead when a John free-kick evaded a packed penalty area and crept into the far post.
It was then the turn of Weinrich to score what is "without doubt Goal of the Week". John headed on to the impressive Dale Bradman who flicked it forward to Weinrich. In between the two centre backs he waited from it to come down before volleying home a first-time strike.
Faithfold came out strongly in the second half and their pressure was rewarded as they halved the deficit with a quality strike from Doron Hershkorn.
Boca also had plenty of chances to wrap it up, but between wastefulness and a great Faithfold keeping display from Dan Kosky, the score stayed 2-1 until the end.
Boca boss John said "There's few better feelings than taking a JC prediction and stuffing down the sports editors throat, and thats just what Boca did with a great 2-1 wi over Faithfold in the league.
"I knew these boys should have done better this season and now the pressure is off they're playing a bit. I wish it was September again."
Faithfold manager Rob Shooman told JC Sport: "We were terrible, they deserved the win in what was our worst performance, with the exception of keepr Dan Kosky."
