Maccabi Germany go into Day 2 of the European Maccabi Football Trophy in great shape after claiming four points out of a possible six against the respective Team Maccabi GB sides in the Open Football competition at Rowley Lane.

A strike from super-sub Adam Kaye secured a point for Team Maccabi GB Masters in the opener against the Germans, while on the other pitch Team Maccabi GB rode their luck to beat France 3-1.

France bossed the first 20 minutes and the woodwork rescued the Brits twice early on.

But it was the hosts who forged ahead on 17 minutes as Yoav Kestenbaum held off his marker to fire across the keeper and into the bottom corner from an acute angle against the run of play.
