A boy racer from Essex has set his sights on becoming the next Lance Armstrong after joining a new team that will compete among the Premier elite.
Daniel Kogan, 20, from Redbridge, has been cycling for over four years and is now part of the BMC UK Racing Team.
Formed by riders from the Eastern regions, the team’s focus is on the development of young athletes and gives them the opportunity to race at the highest level in the UK, whilst supported by strong veteran leadership.
Described by one of his teammates as a “tenacious rider with a strong work ethic”, Kogan has finished in the top five in a national race in Sussex and is also an Eastern County Junior champion.
He said: “The next two years are going to be very important for me and in effect, I will find out if I am good enough to go on and cycle professionally.
“Cycling is still a minority sport and hopefully, if we as a team can make it big in the Premier League, then people will start to recognise it and that will help get more involved.”
The team will be racing across the UK in 2009, in the Premier Calendar, National Circuit Series and Tour Series, as well as selected UCI International events.
