Danny Caro's Division 2 TOTS 2012/13

articlemain

The Brady bunch were the stand-out performers, while Blancos held their nerve to grab second place.

1. BRADY MACCABI B
Record: Pl, 22, W. 16, D. 3, L. 3, F. 91 , A. 29, Pts. 51
Best league result: 6-2 vs Blancos
Biggest league win: 8-0 vs Norstar
Worst result: 3-0 vs SPEC
Clean sheet: 4
Games failed to score in: 3
Star men: Sam Singer, Reiss Mogilner, Daniel Harrod, Scott Benson, Jason Davis
Best signings: Sam Singer, Josh Newman
Top-scorer: Reiss Mogilner 33
DC Rating: The Brady bunch completed back-to-back league titles in style, smashing 91 goals in a memorable campaign. There were no weak links from 1-11, with the acquisition of top young keeper Sam Singer the finishing touch on a work of art. With Josh Newman also coming in to bolster the midfield, they were simply untouchable, although SPEC FC did the double over them. In the end the destiny of the title was never in doubt and they will be going all out to win the Division One title at the first time of asking next year. 9/10

2. LOS BLANCOS
Record: Pl, 22, W. 14, D. 3, L. 5, F. 67, A. 42, Pts. 45
Best league result: 3-2 vs Neasden B
Biggest league win: 8-0 vs Norstar
Worst result: 7-1 vs Brady
Clean sheet: 4
Games failed to score in: 3
Star men: Josh Cohen, Adam Hersh, Josh Gaon, Ben Annis
Best signings: Ben Annis, Josh Gaon
Top-scorer: Adam Hersh 32
DC Rating: LB did just what the doctor order. Player-manager Hersh demanded a sustained promotion challenge and a sustained promotion challenge is exactly what he got. They lost heavily, twice, against the champions, but scored for fun and churned out the results when it mattered most. Keeper Josh Cohen had a brilliant final season and it’s vital they sign a top-quality replacement for life in Division One. The summer signings gelled in brilliantly in what was a wonderful team effort. 8/10

------------------------------
------------------------------

3. SPEC FC
Record: Pl, 22, W. 12, D. 4, L. 6, F. 50, A. 33, Pts. 40
Best league result: 3-0 vs Brady
Biggest league win: 7-2 vs Norstar
Worst result: 3-2 vs Catford
Clean sheets: 8
Games failed to score in: 2
Star men: Laurence Rosenthal, Marc Hecht, Elliott Wallis, David Newman
Best signings: Dan Henig, Nick Berman, Dan Amram, Michael Mirrelman
Top-scorer: Ashley Burns 12
DC Rating: They did the double over champions Brady but disciplinary issues meant that key players missed some big matches as they missed out on automatic promotion. Defeats against teams in the wrong half of the table ultimately held them back in a season where they were excellent in defence, with an impressive eight clean sheets. But their fans shouldn’t be down in the dumps for too long as the chances are promotion will be offered. 7/10

------------------------------

4. NORTH WEST NEASDEN B
Record: Pl, 22, W. 11, D. 5, L. 6, F. 54, A. 35, Pts. 38
Best league result: 4-2vs SPEC
Biggest league win: 5-1 vs FC Team B
Worst result: 3-1 vs FC Team B
Clean sheet: 4
Games failed to score in: 0
Star man: Adam Levene
Best signings: James Abrams, Bobby Abrams
Top-scorer: Oli Joseph 9
DC Rating: Made two big summer signings and started the season like a house on fire, but they were ultimately unable to maintain those high standards over the second half. In the end it all came down to small details for Adam Levene’s men who did well to score in every game. 7/10

------------------------------
------------------------------

5. ATHLETIC BILBAUM
Record: Pl, 22, W. 11, D. 4, L. 7, F. 46, A. 39, Pts. 37
Best league result: 5-2 vs SPEC FC
Biggest league win: 5-2 vs SPEC FC
Worst result: 6-2 vs Brady
Clean sheet: 3
Games failed to score in: 2
Star men: Ben Bell, Simon Roth, Adam Bier
Top-scorer: Jake Gilbert 11
DC Rating: Started the season with a bang with a 5-2 success over SPEC FC, but a terrible February scuppered any hopes of a top two finish. Jake Gilbert was their star man up top, while keeper Simon Roth made a lasting impression on several rivals to win the JC MSFL Safe Hands award. If managers Green and Pasha can bring in two quality players I’d expect them to be there or thereabout s next season. 6/10

------------------------------
------------------------------

6. GLENTHORNE UNITED B
Record: Pl, 22, W. 9, D. 4, L. 9, F. 42, A. 41, Pts. 31
Best league result: 3-2 vs Brady
Biggest league win: 6-1 vs FC Team B
Worst result: 4-0 vs Raiders
Clean sheet: 3
Games failed to score in: 5
Star men: Andy Herman, Adam Goldman, Jay Lawrence, James Berkley
Best signings: Jay Lawrence, Adam Goldman, James Berkley
Top-scorer: Adam Goldman 9
DC Rating: Any team would struggle after losing Dan Lassman and Craig Sandford but this was something of a learning curve for messus Sapler and Stein. Top-scorer Adam Goldman got the SAS off their seats time and again, but they needed goals from other positions too. They hit the buffers in December and only rediscovered their winning formula when it was too late. 5/5

------------------------------
------------------------------

7. NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B
Record: Pl, 22, W. 8, D. 4, L. 10, F. 42, A. 38, Pts. 28
Best league result: 4-0 vs Blancos
Biggest league win: 5-0 vs Norstar
Worst result: 4-0 vs Blizzard
Clean sheet: 6
Games failed to score in: 3
Star men: Ethan Zone
Best signings: Nicky Woolf, Jonny Shapiro, Simon Buchler, David Shamash, Nick Grosse
Top-scorer: Ethan Zone 10
DC Rating: At one point, Raiders flirted with promotion but their season tailed off in disappointing fashion. The emergence of Ethan Zone was the highlight of the season and his partnership with Jonny Blain was a joy to watch. Keeper Nick Grosse did well, with Shaps and Buchler also doing much good. But with Oli Shorts and Rich Abrahams stepping aside, L’Orange have an important summer ahead. 5/5

------------------------------
------------------------------

8. FC TEAM B
Record: Pl, 22, W. 8, D. 2, L. 12, F. 45, A. 55, Pts. 26
Best league result: 3-3 vs Brady
Biggest league win: 6-2 vs Catford
Worst result: 6-0 vs Brady
Clean sheet: 1
Games failed to score in: 4
Star men: Freddie Marks, Adam Goldsmith
Best signings: Adam Goldsmith
Top-scorer: Freddie Marks 10
DC Rating: Club chairman Mitch Young predicted big things from his B team and although they produced some good football and good results, consistency proved problematic. They gave the champions an almighty scare in one game and showed that they could give anyone a game. 4/10

------------------------------
------------------------------

9. REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B
Record: Pl, 22, W. 6, D. 7, L. 9, F. 34, A. 58, Pts. 25
Best league result: 1-0 vs SPEC FC
Biggest league win: 6-3 vs Norstar
Worst result: 6-0 vs Glenthorne
Clean sheet: 1
Games failed to score in: 4
Star men: Matt Kemp, Scott Oldstein, Ben Binder
Best signings: Matt Kemp
Top-scorer: Ben Binder
DC Rating: The youngest team in the division performed admirably, but in the end inexperience counted against Jon Jacobs’ men. Keeper Matt Kemp earned some rave reviews in a season that featured some encouraging individual and collective performances. With a couple of older heads coming in, they could go places next season … 4/10

------------------------------
------------------------------

10. BLIZZARD STORM
Record: Pl, 22, W. 6, D. 3, L. 13, F. 47, A. 68, Pts. 21
Best league result: 4-2 vs SPEC FC
Biggest league win: 6-0 vs Catford
Worst result: 7-1 vs Brady
Clean sheet: 2
Games failed to score in: 2
Star men: Michael Woolfe, Adam Speck, Sean Ladier
Top-scorer: Dan Simons 9
DC Rating: Finished the season strongly, just like 12 months ago, but were up and down in between. Were well beaten by the top teams, although they bowed out on a high with impressive wins over Raiders and SPEC FC. No doubt their chances next season will be boosted by the double signing of Adam Levene and Louis Taylor from Neasden B 3/10

------------------------------
------------------------------

11. CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI
Record: Pl, 22, W. 5, D. 3, L. 14, F. 29, A. 66, Pts. 18
Best league result: 4-1 vs Raiders
Biggest league win: 3-2 vs SPEC FC
Worst result: 7-1 vs Brady
Clean sheet: 2
Games failed to score in: 6
Star men: Adam Luria, Jamie Sinai
Top-scorer: Jamie Sinai 10
DC Rating: Another tough season for the Cats who suffered some heavy defeats. They also struggled for goals on a regular basis – the two are a recipe for disaster. Captain Adam Luria played with his heart on his sleeve, but manager Lester Jacobs needed 11 of him! 3/10

------------------------------
------------------------------

12. NORSTAR B
Record: Pl, 22, W. 4, D. 2, L. 16, F. 37, A. 80, Pts. 14
Best league result: 3-0 vs Bilbaum
Biggest league win:
Worst result:
Clean sheet: 2
Games failed to score in: 5
Star men: Rob Blackman
Best signings: Rob Blackman
Top-scorer: Rob Blackman
DC Rating: When Rob Blackman joined Norstar from Brixton, most people, myself included, expected him to line up for the As most weeks. But he showed his quality for the Bs and was a regular supplier of goals. If only they started the season with him. It was a testing first season for manager David Lubczanski who might still be sitting in a dark room somewhere! 2/10
