Jamie Cole has been appointed manager of the Maccabi Team GB U18 Boys Football Squad for the European Maccabi Games in Berlin next year.

He with be assisted by Ben Lane and coach Marc Greene. All three are well-versed in domestic and international football, particularly within the Jewish game. Cole spent much of his playing career representing Oakhill, where he won the MJSL Division One title with the B Team; the then-Maccabi Southern Football League (MSFL) Premier Division Title on three occasions - including one in his first role as player/manager - and the League Cup, also three times.

After being awarded Manager of the Year, he moved onto North West Neasden and continued to fill his trophy cabinet, winning an unprecedented MSFL Premier Division and Peter Morrison Cup double three years in a row. His exploits saw another Manager of the Year Award in 2010, followed by a spell as Manager of the MSFL Rep Team. It was only a matter of time before his winning ways rubbed-off on Team Maccabi GB and he won a bronze medal at the 19th Maccabiah Games in 2013.

Speaking about his appointment, Cole said: “The role of Team Maccabi GB’s U18s Football team manager is one which carries great responsibility and is also filled with great honour. More than anyone, we are aware of the importance of the 19th Maccabiah Games side [who won gold in Israel in 2013] and what it personifies from a footballing point of view and also how the players and managers conduct themselves as representatives of Britain’s Jewish community.
