Brand goes it alone as LMV near title dream

articlemain

London Maccabi Vale are one game away from winning the Harrow Indoor six-a-side league Division Three after a man-of-the-match display from Adam Brand saw them beat Harrow St Marys.

HSM scored 148 in 10 overs with only GB Maccabiah bowler Andrew Daniels coming away with any credit.

In reply, Brand set off briskly, initially making a compulsory retirement on 25. Jacob Freedman and Daniels upped the scoring before the latter sacrificed his wicket to enable Brand to return.

With Freedman batting sensibly and Brand smashing anything in his reach, the score accelerated. Freedman was run out but in a way that only helped LMV’s cause as Brand was left to face all the bowling.

Eighteen runs came off the penultimate over leaving 12 needed from the final six balls. A dot ball was followed up by a six, a three and then a four to win the match. Brand finished on 74 not out.
