articlemain

“Not bad for a 72-year-old” was how Andrea Borlant described her husband’s triumph in this year’s Yorkshire Seniors Scratch Tournament, held at Hull Golf Club.

Seymour Borlant claimed a triple triumph when he became the tournament’s veteran’s golf champion for the third year running. A member of Moor Allerton Golf Club for more than 30 years, Borlant proudly displayed the Super Senior’s Trophy, a hand cut Royal Scot crystal decanter engraved with the White Rose of Yorkshire.

Educated at Harehills Secondary Modern School, Borlant has a life-long passion for the game and has held the same handicap of five for more than a quarter of a century. He is lives in Wigton Moor and has three children and six grandchildren.

The semi-retired retailer of soft furnishings in Darlington spends most of his leisure time playing golf. He is a past winner of Captain’s Prize in 1975 at Moor Allerton where he has won numerous trophies.

Clearly delighted with his hat-trick, Borlant said: “This has been a very special honour. I am delighted with the many messages of congratulations from family, friends, officials and fellow golfers.”
