David Blatt capped a memorable few months by winning the Euroleague Coach of the Year title.

Blatt steered Maccabi Tel Aviv to victory in the final four competition after overcoming Real Madrid – their first European success since 2005.

A Euroleague spokesman praised Blatt for "building a true team despite incorporating many new players, losing key contributors to injury and having to reinvent the team’s playing style".

He was recently appointed head coach at Cleveland Cavaliers and is scheduled to lead the team for the first time today in the team’s Summer League opener against Milwaukee in Las Vegas.
