Dudu Awat is set to make his debut for Real Mallorca against Spanish league leaders Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Saturday after signing a three and-a-half-year contract.
Awat joined Deportivo in the summer of 2006 and was considered one of the Spanish league’s top goalkeepers. But the Israeli’s fortunes plummeted in January following a punch-up with reserve goalkeeper Gustavo Munua, which left Awat with a broken nose. He has failed to appear for Deportivo this campaign. He had been linked with Gijon, Espanyol and Borussia Monchengladbach but preferred to remain in Spain. Awat said: “This is a great opportunity. All I want is to play and be given opportunities. That’s what
Mallorca are giving me. I’m 100 per cent fit because I’ve been training hard.”
Utrecht have confirmed they will not be taking Ben Sahar on loan from Chelsea. On Friday, they fired their manager Willem Van Hanegem.
