Maccabi GB’s first inter-school sports tournament of the academic year saw Akiva Blue win the Year 3 and 4 Mixed football competition.
Held during Succot, the action was preceded by the reading of a blessing from two Mathilda Marks Kennedy players, who had volunteered for the role.
The event, sponsored by All Abroad Charity Shops, saw 20 teams — from 11 different schools — competing, ensuring 175 players took part and it was watched on by a further 125 spectators from the sidelines.
Akiva Blue claimed the title by beating Sinai A 3-2 in the final.
Nathan Bloohn, Maccabi GB School and Sports Coordinator, said: “As it fell during Succot, we wanted to celebrate the festival and the reading of the blessing before the kick-off certainly did that.
“It was an exciting event and the final proved to be a close battle.”
