Hell for leather

articlemain

I have made a brave decision this season - I am going to part with my well-loved but worn out leather biker jacket. With an obvious tear down the front (don't ask!) I've realised my jacket is looking more tatty than grunge and more cheap than expensive.

However, saying that, I've had a good 10 years of love and trust from my biker jacket. It's been aired at muddy festivals and weddings alike. This is the sheer beauty of a biker. Although it has a tough exterior, it can in fact be teamed with both casual separates or for more dressy affairs.

Plus, the jacket can be worn over practically anything and also doubles up as a great layer under your winter coat when the cold air sets in.

A biker jacket instantly looks cool, relaxed yet badass. And this season is no different than previous fashion collections. Studs, belts, lapel collars and buckles galore are invading the leather and PU versions that can be found up and down the high street.

Designers such as Yves Saint Laurent and American Retro are expensive investments but stand the test of time. If you're looking for a similar flair but fair price bracket, look for faux leather versions in a multitude of styles - cropped, coloured, simple or eccentric - they are all available in stores such as Marks & Spencer, New Look, Jaeger and even Primark; they all have some versions that look more costly than their actual price tag.

So, if you're just getting to grips with new season trends and unsure what to buy without making impulsive purchases - this is your answer. If you haven't already revved up for the new season, do so now with a biker jacket as top priority.
