You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah may be one of the most Jewish projects Netflix has released this year. Starring Jewish superstars Adam Sandler, Idina Menzel and Sarah Sherman, it tells the story of Stacvy Friedman, a young Jewish girl navigating the trials and tribulations of boys, school, and preparing for her bat mitzvah in an American suburb.
Directed by Jewish filmmaker Sammi Cohen, who said she wanted the film to feel like a celebration of Jewish children and their rites of passage, the film stars two of Hollywood's most high profile Jewish actors. But who's who in You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah?
Adam Sandler - Danny Friedman

Adam Sandler, who's spoken often about his pride in his faith, and has played several Jewish and Israeli characters including Zohan in You Don't Mess with the Zohan, Davey in Eight Crazy Nights and Danny Meyerowitz in The Meyerowitz Stories plays Danny Friedman, Stacy's father.
Idina Menzel - Bree Friedman

Jewish actress Idina Menzel plays Danny Friedman's wife Bree, mother of Stacy in the movie. It's Menzel's second time playing opposite Sandler, after she took on the role of his wife in another Netflix project, Uncut Gems. Menzel plays the harsh but fair mother of the main character, who takes her daughter dress shopping and encourages her to make friends with Lydia Rodriguez Katz
Sunny Sandler - Stacy Friedman
Adam Sandler's younger daughter Sunny stars as the main character in the movie, planning her bat mitzvah, learning her Torah portion and carrying out her 'mitzvah project'. Sunny Sandler's real bat mitzvah last year was a star-studded event at the Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles. Featuring guests such as Jenifer Aniston, Taylor Lautner and Charlie Puth, it was a much more glitzy affair than the ceremony depicted in the movie.
Samantha Lorraine - Lydia Rodriguez Katz
Samantha Lorraine plays Lydia, the half-Jewish half-Hispanic best friend of Stacy, whom she falls out with for the majority of the film. Lorraine has previously starred in The Walking Dead: The World Beyond and TV movie The Love Advisor.
Jackie Sandler – Gabi Rodriguez Katz
Jackie Sandler, Adam Sandler's wife stars as Lydia's mother Gabi. Sandler converted to Judaism 20 years ago to marry Adam and the two celebrated their anniversary earlier this summer. In the movie, Jackie is getting divorced from her husband Eli but still supports her daughter Lydia through her bat mitzvah preparation.
Sadie Sandler – Ronnie Friedman
Sadie Sandler, Adam Sandler's eldest daughter plays big sister Ronnie in the movie. Alongside her real-life sister Sunny, Sadie plays alongside her mum and dad and acts as an experienced older sibling to Stacy. In real life, Sadie's bat mitzvah featured a performance by Jewish Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine.
Ido Mosseri - DJ Shmuley
Fans of You Don't Mess With The Zohan may recognise Mosseri as one of the fictional Israeli electronic shop owners in New York. Mosseri is an accomplished Israeli actor, musician, and TV presenter. Aside from starring in Zohan, Mosseri has been in a number of Israeli projects including HaYehudim BaIm (The Jews are coming) and TV show Mossad.
In You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah, DJ Shmuley is an Israel bar mitzvah DJ, who plays at all the b'nei mitzvahs in the movie. While his nationality isn't mentioned in the movie, Mosseri's strong Israeli accent comes through in all his scenes.
Sarah Sherman - Rabbi Rebecca
Jewish SNL comedian Sarah Sherman plays the film's spiritual advisor Rabbi Rebecca. The stern but fair Rabbi guides all the film's teens through their b'nei mitzvahs. Singing Bim Bam and educating the children of the Hebrew school about Tikkun Olam, Rabbi Rebecca plays a stereotypical progressive rabbi who leads the service at Stacy's bat mitzvah.
Dylan Hoffman - Andy Goldfarb
Jewish teen actor Dylan Hoffman plays the closest thing the movie has to an antagonist. Andy Goldfarb is a typical teenage boy, who comes between best friends Stacy and Lydia. Fist flirting with Stacy, then dating Lydia, then coming back to Stacy, the girls' relationship with Andy is the basis of the dramatic tension of the movie. Dylan made his film debut in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.
Luis Guzman – Eli Katz
Puerto Rican actor Luiz Guzman plays Lydia's dad Eli in the movie. Only seen in a few scenes, Guzman is seen talking on the phone and mentioning his divorce from Lydia's mother Gabi. Guzman has acted in dozens of roles in Hollywood filmes, including working with Adam Sandler previously in the film Anger Management. Guzman is best known for his roles in Narcos, Boogie Nights and We're the Millers.
