What do you want to be when you grow up? Many say astronaut, I said Olympian, some say superhero. If you thought magician, would you have actually gone and done it? It might be atypical, but one former JCoSS student has done just that.
Josh Horus, a self-described 'mystifier' is living out many kids' childhood dreams as a professional magician performing for the likes of Elton John, Rita Ora and Robert Rinder.
Josh and I first met at the 2017 Maccabiah Games in Israel, with him shooting cards across the room whilst I stood agog. Though slightly embarrassed at the constant insistence to see yet more tricks, he still could commandeer a space full of his older teammates.
Today when I ask Josh to perform his magic for me, there's no resistance. Seemingly like all magicians, he's "very secretive", so I won't spoil the finale. But he does spruce up the 'guess what number I'm thinking of' stunt. He might call it "just a little warm-up thing” but it's still a nifty illusion.
