This week saw scores of Jewish students head to Parliament to speak to their home and campus MPs about the state of antisemitism in British universities, as well as other general issues of student life.

The students asked their MPs to write to Higher Education Minister, David Lammy, requesting the immediate establishment of a government working group to look at the issues, to write to their local universities and to sign the Early Day Motion tabled by John Mann MP, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group against Antisemitism. The lobby was held following a report by the CST indicating that the past months have seen the highest number of antisemitic attacks in Britain since their records began in 1984. Mr Mann said: “University systems need to detect antisemitic incidents which act like anti-social behaviour. Hopefully following this the government will establish a working group on the issue and the sector will review its processes.”
