This weekend, we have seen the logical fate of the "Catch-22" situation in which the PA is now involved, in its attempt to negotiate the creation of yet another 'Palestinian' state.
Saeb Erekat resigned after the WikiLeaks affair, showing to all how far 'Palestinians' were ready to go but only if that remained a secret!
So here is the Catch-22:
- if the 'Palestinian' negotiator rejects any talks or makes inacceptable conditions to resume them, he passes as a hero in the eyes of 'Palestinian' mob but as a hardliner in the eyes of every person with a brain,
- if he accepts talks and shows to be ready to give anything to the other party, he passes as a traitor in the eyes of the 'Palestinian' mob and loses the next election to the HAMAS.
A corollary of this Catch-22 situation is that the 'Palestinian' negociator can promise anything to the other party, knowing that whatever happens, he will be unable to fulfil his obligations.
So, no progress in the negotiations is to be expected until next September, quite the opposite. The problem is that there won't be any elections in Gaza, now that the 'Palestinians' have voted for their own dictator. Either they get rid of it, like the Egyptians did, or they have to go on with it. There is a permanent price to pay for freedom, as all democratic countries know. And it is always paid in blood currency.
