Ninety one years old (or, in his case, young) he may be, but Shimon Peres is now Israel's de facto Foreign Minister - or at least its global ambassador. With the post of foreign minister left vacant by Benjamin Netanyahu, the nation's former President and Prime Minister remains its most eloquent globe-trotter. Most of us would probably like to take a breather in our 90s but for Mr Peres (and his fellow statesman, Lord Weidenfeld, whose lecture on Herzl we featured last week) there is no slowing down while there is work to be done. The word above all is: inspirational.
