As inevitable as Hamas’ latest cease fire breach is the skewed reporting of it by the BBC and other media outlets.
‘Israel has launched air strikes on Gaza in retaliation for Hamas rocket fire’ was the headline on one BBC bulletin on Tuesday. True, yes. But the story is framed in a way that makes the listener think of Israel, rather than Hamas’ sole responsibility for the latest conflict.
Nothing new or surprising in that — it is par for the course. No matter how many times Hamas breaks cease fires — 8 so far — Israel is always somehow blamed as the aggressor. The media war may not be as important as the real war, but it is every bit as real.
