Jordan's justice minister on Monday described a Jordanian soldier serving a life sentence for killing seven Israeli schoolgirls in 1997 as a "hero," drawing an expression of "revulsion" from Israel.
"I support the demonstrators' demand to free Ahmad Dakamseh. He's a hero. He does not deserve prison," Hussein Mujalli, who was named minister last week, told AFP after taking part in the sit-in held by trade unions.
The fallacy expressed here by the 'justice' minister is ad hominem tu quoque. It is especially strange coming from a justice minister, as that looks like justifying vengeance rather than justice. But of course, Jordan is not the right place to expect any justice, especially for Jews. I seem to remember that Jews cannot settle in Jordan. Not that they would like to, especially if they want to keep wearing a kippah.
Well, here is what the world will call an "ally of Israel", just as Egypt! As far as we can see, Jordan and Egypt are the friends of their fellow dictatorship, and the dictatorships always need a scapegoat. It didn't work for Egypt, but maybe it will work for Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iran and all the rest of the more or less bloody Muslim dictatorships.
