I am loving the Junior Bake Off. The little Prevers and I are Team Maddie all the way.
She seems to us to be getting a morsel less on screen time in the edit than some of her cohort, but we’re drooling over every tasty minute anyway.
Here are the five reasons we're proud of Maddie’s Bake Off journey so far.
Her Liam high five (equivalent of a Hollywood handshake) for her ‘Who Wants To Buy My Cookbooks’ bready showstopper. She baked two types of focaccia — herbed and plain — PLUS a two loaves of challah bread that Prue said were “beautiful”. (We think she was cheated not to win Star Baker on that day…)
Those perfect spinach and feta plaits on pastry day. She blew us all away with her beautiful braids.
Jumping to Vaughan’s aid when he forgot to put his oven on for the veggie pastry plait technical. What a mensch…
That ‘Pavlownie’ hybrid – drool. Maddie’s Auntie must have been kvelling when the judges tasted her recipe.
A respectable second place in the bread technical. “Beautifully shaped” apple and cinnamon buns (according to Prue) got a double thumbs up from Liam, who said it was a “really good bake and looks really lovely.” We just want that recipe!
Whether you win or not this week, we’re super proud of you Maddie, and will be rooting for you all the way.
Junior Bake Off is on Channel 4 at 5pm each weeknight
