It seems that a bulb has at last been lit in Prime Minister Netanyahu's head regarding the disgraceful behaviour of settlers.
The police had to use rubber bullets for the first time against settler rioters, who also sought to attack Palestinians when the state stepped into to dismantle an illegal settlement. Had the rioters been non-Jews, tho, I suspect the police response would have been much harsher.
Bibi said: . "We are in a very difficult international reality, and the US veto in the UN Security Council was achieved with great effort. We could ignore everything and say 'no problem,' but as prime minister with responsibility for this country, I have the overall responsibility...We are a few weeks after the the Quartet's decision, after the US's veto, before another Quartet decision, and therefore we must consider the reality in which we live. When there is a changing world order in the Middle East, there are those who seek an easy but irresponsible solution, and we won't help them with that."
This goes with the report that a Jew who allegedly killed a Jerusalem Arab only because he spoke Arabic will face only manslaughter despite the fact that the police prosecutor said he intended on accusing the main suspect with murder.
