If you're anything like me (or, as it turns out, my 8 year old daughter) you work at least a meal or three in advance. Before tucking into breakfast, I'm working out our dinner plans.
So if you're off to Edinburgh Festival it's nice to know where you'll be able to get at least one kosher meal out.
The Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation (EHC to their friends) are, for the second year, offering kosher lunches for theatre-goers. It's only one day a week, but that's one meal sorted.
On the menu: Jewish Penicillin (with kneidlach - charmingly translated into Scottish as 'wee soft dumplings' - and lockshen); vegetable soup with mandel; hot dogs; salt beef sandwiches; fried gefilte fish; fish goujons and a falafel platter. There are latkes, coleslaw and pickled cucs on the sides list and a list of soft drinks.
Never having been to the Festival (sniff) I couldn't tell you how the food is, but perhaps you can let me know when you've been.
Find it at 4a Salisbury Road, Edinburgh EH16 5AB from 12 - 2.30pm every Tuesday. Email your booking to ehc.enquiry@gmail.com
