Do you ever get bored of your own cooking? And I don’t mean, the actual cooking process — lord knows we’ve all had more than enough time in our kitchens this year!

I mean of the same flavours. We all tend to trot out the same old dishes — especially when, like me, you’re feeding tweens who term anything with a bit of flavour as “too spicy”. It’s easy to stick to what you know. I’m also mostly shopping online at the moment, so no lovely browsing in exciting food shops.

Sure I do branch out a little with the odd new spice or condiment, but, with no restaurant visits, I’ve been craving was something different. A flavour I hadn’t created!

Which is where the deliciously Middle Eastern dishes from Maghreb London hit the spot. Israeli chefs Amir Batito and Shiri Krauz have created a range of kits that help you prepare food so packed with flavour, your mouth will take you out to dinner as a thank you.

Amir and Shiri have years of experience here and in Israel, as chefs and consultants. Both in top restaurants and catering companies, so know a bit about what packs a powerful flavour punch.

They gifted me their fish cake kit to review. With minimal effort — maybe ten minutes hands on time, tops — it produced the MOST delicious meal. In the box was fish cake mix, spicy Moroccan Chraymeh sauce (spicy pepper and tomato); pillowy pitas; some pickled vegetables plus tahina sauce and coriander. All food seasoned and spiced perfectly.

All I had to do was warm the sauce in a large saute pan, roll the fish mixture into golf ball-sized patties and pop them into the hot sauce. While I left them to do their thing together, I chopped coriander, heated pitas and set the table. If seeing is believing you can check out the entire process on a little film I added to my Instagram on 5 November.

Fifteen minutes later dinner was served. A whole new set of Moroccan flavours danced around my mouth and I’d barely had to do a thing.

They also offer a shakshuka kit and arayes (stuffed pita) in a box. I tasted one of the arayes — you need them in your life. Trust me. It arrived stuffed and ready to toast in a hot frying pan into a crisp-coated, meaty feast. Delicious.

Ordering information is all here on their website.
