Compare the following:
David Cameron, leader of the opposition, speaking at the Conservative Friends of Israel annual lunch, June 2009:
“The belief I have in Israel is indestructible. I will never turn my back on Israel.”
David Cameron, Prime Minister, speaking in Ankara, Turkey, July 2010:
“Gaza cannot and must not be allowed to remain a prison camp.”
And
"The Israeli attack on the Gaza flotilla was completely unacceptable."
Funny what 13 months, and winning influential votes from British Jews in constituencies such as Hendon, Finchley and Golders Green, and Watford can do to your mindset, eh?
Funny how, after two years of love-bombing the Jewish community with promises of outlawing extremists and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel, Mr Cameron can pop up in front of a mainly Muslim audience and produce such a forthright condemnation of Israel.
And politicians wonder why voters don't trust a word that comes out of their mouths...
