That is rather bad news for the peace process: as everyone knows, Arafat constantly resisted the peace process, constantly refused all generous offers made by Israel, fostered violent and deadly attacks on Israel in the so-called "Intifadas" (using not only stones, but also rockets and explosive belts). And he died before he saw the Promised Land, not even from afar.
Let's hope Abbas recognizes the errors made by his predecessor and quickly finds the right path to peace: recognition of the Jewish State (accepting the UN resolution of 1947), renouncing violence (and removing it from the PLO Charter) and enforcing this policy in Gaza as well as in the Judea-Samaria territories they occupy.
But I am day-dreaming.
