It’s a good day.
Sun is shining – Spring is on the way. And I’ve had some fabulous Fresser news.
A few weeks ago, I was sad to hear that my favourite Israeli husband and wife chef/restaurateurs, Itamar Srulovich and Sarit Packer were being forced to close their first restaurant, Honey & Co. After a decade their lease was up and was not being renewed.
I’m delighted to share that they’ve found a new home.
No date set yet, but they’ve announced that this Spring they will be reopening Honey & Co at 54 Lamb’s Conduit Street in Bloomsbury. (The corner site that was Cigala.)
The street is already a foodie hub. There’s a branch of La Fromagerie and wine bar, Noble Rot, as well as Italian restaurant Ciao Bella, that has been churning trad favourites for nigh on 20 years to locals in the know.
The lovely Sarit has said of the move: “We’re bringing everything we can with us: our staff, our famous tiles, our signature dishes; plus everything we’ve learned over the last 10 years. We’re adding more space, wine by Keeling Andrew & Co, the wine company from the guys behind Noble Rot, our new neighbours, better extraction – which our team are very excited about – and we might even put tablecloths on this time.”
They will still be offering all the old favourites — plenty of falafel, tahini, slow-cooked lamb and BBQ tahini aubergine, and their gorgeous feta and honey cheesecake for dessert.
As the new address is within walking distance of the JC’s offices, I'll be counting the days. I think Itamar may be almost as excited, having said: “The street feels just right for us. Honestly, being surrounded by all our favourite places to eat and shop is a dream come true. Not great for our bank balance, but good for our souls.”
